Should my new landlord have shown me evidence of an annual gas check?

"Yes or your agent will have a copy. Before any new lease starts, you must make sure that these checks have been done within one year before the start of the lease date. Further information is available in the Gas safety - landlords and letting agents section."

Landlords are required by law to have gas appliances and a tightness test done every year and when a new tenant moves in
Tightness test is to check for gas leaks

"The landlord is legally required to ensure that the gas appliances are checked within twelve months and that they are maintained.
They are required to send you proof within twenty eight days of your residence."
