advice on how to identify what is causing a kitchen extractor fan isn't working

My kitchen extractor fan isn't working properly even though it gives the appearance that it is functioning as normal. What might be the cause of this and how can I identify the specific cause?

"Most likely an electrical fault but you could just test it by taking off the plastic casing and checking for blockages. Best to contact a professional."

"This could be down to a blockage in the fan, usually a cause of a build up of grease. The filter may also need replacing (oven extractor)

Kitchen extractor fan like a bathroom extractor again could be blocked, if it starts squealing then it will require replacing"

"Do you know where the exhaust fumes come out? If you do can you confirm whether there is a good amount of air flow coming out from there or does it seem to be restricted? It is also a good idea to check your filters too and make sure they are clean from debris."

"I’ve just done a job like this and believe it or not it was blocked with leaves. A good clean and all go again"

"If it is working electrically and just not extracting then it is just a case of a blocked filter.
Most filters are washable if metal..you can soak in warm water in soda crystals which asda and all supermarkets sell.
Or if fabric then this is a filter media type..you can buy online tey amazon.
If this helps great but if not happy to attend site FOC for 1st 30mins...
