  • How long to wait between coats of paint?

Good afternoon. I’m going to be painting over plaster in my hall, stairs and landing. We want to keep the space light so we’re going with very pale blue paint. How many coats of paint will I need to cover the plaster? How long between coats of paint should I wait before the next?

Can I repaint over gloss paint on wood?

Hello all, We are in the middle of planning some redecorating in the house at the moment and currently looking at what paints to use for skirting boards and doors right now. Some of them are bare wood and ready to be painted, while some already have a gloss paint applied to them previously. Should we remove the gloss paint from the already painted areas or just paint over them? Alternatively, we could use a different style of paint if that would better cover existing paint. If we need to remove the paint – what is the best option to do so, so that we can repaint again later? Any advice or past experiences would be great to hear about! Thanks!

How should i drill through tiles?

Hello, I am looking to install some small bathroom fixtures, toilet roll holder, towel rack, etc on the walls of my bathroom. The walls have already been tiled, so I want to be sure that I can drill through correctly without getting any damage to the tiles themselves. I have been told that using a low torque setting for a drill and using masking tape around the tile can be an effective way. How would be the best way for me to drill through the tiles? Thanks

    Convert upstairs bedroom into bathroom?

Hi everyone. I’m hoping someone can help with our query. We have four bedrooms but one is a small box room. We would like to convert the box room into an en suite for the guest bedroom. The door would need to be relocated to the other wall. It could easily fit a toilet/sink/shower in the space. Can this be done fairly cheaply (but professionally)? How much money should we be putting aside for this?

A rodent has chewed wires, can I put electrical tape around it to fix it?

A mouse or rat has chewed the parts of the jacket layer off some appliance cables in the garage. Is it safe enough to wrap electrical tape over the gaps to fix them? Or what can I use instead of electrical tape?

How Can I Fix Stiff Door Locks?

My front door’s lock has become very stiff recently when I try to turn the key in it to unlock it. However, it doesn’t seem to bad when locking the door. I’d like to solve this soon so I don't get locked out. It seems to have gone worse over time and is now consistently stiff, despite the door and lock only being a few years old. Is there anything I can do to make the lock a bit looser? Or is it more likely that I need to replace the door’s lock? If anyone has any ideas for what could have caused this, please let me know – as I don’t want any repeats of this in future.
