  • Stagger plasterboards on a ceiling and make good

I have a reoccurring crack on my ceiling from a repair done 2 years ago where plasterboard was replaced halfway across my lounge to a joist in a straight line. I have been advised that the plasterboard should have been staggered to different joists. Any advice on how much to take down the existing ceiling, stagger plasterboards and replaster? The room is 2.4m wide at this point and has coving. Any advice is welcomed.

Patio build over existing old patio flags

Can I lay the MOT 1 and compact it on top of an old flagged patio ( save digging up the old patio) Bearing in mind that the existing old patio flags are laid 150 mm below DPC and the new patio would be higher than DPC, how far away from the wall can I start the edging stones and what would you suggest goes in the gap between the house wall and edging stones of new patio?

Cost of plumbing in a washing machine

I've just bought a reconditioned washing machine. How much would it cost to have someone plumb it in for me? I assume a handyman can do it rather needing a plumber? I have mobility issues, so I can't do it myself but I'm scared of being ripped off.

    Rendering garden wall materials required

Hi, Im looking to render part of my garden wall. It's not huge and I'm pretty sure I could do it myself. I'm just looking for some advice on which materials I should use and what the ratios should be in the mix. Will any sand do the job? Do I need to add any additives in? I know i'll need plasterciser but should this be in the final coat too? How thick should the coats be? Any advice would be appreciated.

My roof has been altered without permission

Hi. I live in a semi-detached house and share a roof with my neighbour. My neighbour has a new roof fitted and they replaced my tiles without asking me. They have used different tiles which appear to be a different colour than mine (orange). Again no-one has asked me about this. Also, there appears to be a massive gap now between the tiles on my roof and tiles on my next-door neighbours. What should I do??

Plane/Sand + adjust hinges on timber door

How much is it to get some carpentry done to a timber door? Frame may require a bit of sanding/planeing, but mostly it is a case of hinges needing adjusting (possibly chiselling out a bit) and rehanging it so it opens/closes nice and flush. Thank you.
