Working out the number of cupboards to have in the kitchen

How can I work out how many storage cupboards I'll need for my kitchen? I'm worried I won't have enough if I go for an L-shape plan.

"The best way is to measure the size of your kitchen so measure the 2 walls you want to install your units., then make a list of the appliances you want of have, if they are free standing or intergrated, so if you have a free standing washing machine normally you allow 610mm for a standard 600mm machine intergrated 601mm with fridges/freezers are free standing again aloow the same, intergrated appliaces go into 600mm units so you can plan them in as a 600mm unit."

"The cupboards come in many different sizes. Take the measurements and then divide it by say 500mm and then you can put that number of 500mm cupboards in"

"First of all you have to measure your walls and take an idea how much cupboards you will need....."

"It really depends on the size of your kitchen. Most suppliers build units in 100mm increments so 300mm - 400mm - 500mm and so on up to 1000mm.
For example if a wall in your house is 2650mm you could fit two 800mm units, a 600mm unit and a 400mm unit and then for the remaining 50mm you’d have a filler panel going into the wall to blank off the gap."

"The only person that can answer that question is yourself really. What you need to do is consult with the designers at one or more of the reputable kitchen suppliers like B&Q, Wickes, Wren etc. They will take your available space and work with you to come up with a doable design that will meet your needs. Hope this helps."

"Hi the number of cupboards will normally be determined by the size of the available space. A better option would be to let Wickes, B&Q or Wren do this for you. You can send them the measuremnets and they will workout the number of cupboards for you. You might have to put up with a sales pitch but you will know what you can fit into your kitchen."
