Ask your QuestionHi
We will be moving to a new house in the near future and want to hire a removals service to move all of our belongings from the old house to the new house.
Are there any typical costs we can expect?
And what kind of factors would effect the price normally?

"Hi
I’m afraid the total cost could vary quite a lot, depending on the amount of belongings that you have to be moved.
Easily, a 3 bedroom house being moved out to a new address could cost around £1200. Where the typical cost of loading, transporting and unloading items could be around £800, packing away items suitably (and respective packing material costs) could cost around £300 and disassembling/reassembling furniture to be moved around £100.
There will be a variance of these costs based on your own volume of items, along with the distance of the trips (longer/multiple trips costing the company more time and money to travel).
Some removal companies also offer optional services such as storage and cleaning which can be additional costs.
Average costs are largely in proportion to the number of bedrooms, below is an approximate guide:
- 1 Bedroom = £600-£800 removal (including packing costs)
- 2 Bedroom = £750-£950 removal (including packing costs)
- 3 Bedroom = £1000-£1200 removal (including packing costs)
- 4 Bedroom = £1250-£1300 removal (including packing costs)
In many cases, your mileage may vary on the exact costs, particularly on locations, but you should be aware that paying for a good quality removals service for a marginally higher fee is often the preferred option in the long term, to ensure your belongings arrive safely.
Additionally, be aware of any exceptional items that could be difficult for removal staff to deal with, such as pianos, which may require additional care on their part and additional costs to you accordingly.
I hope this helps give you an idea of the costs involved. I would recommend getting a few quotes from local removal companies to determine a suitable choice of removal company for you. "
"Hi,
It's all depends on what and what you want moving.
There are some factors that you need to put into consideration.
1. Distance
2. Who's doing the parking? Is it yourself or removal company. If you done the parking yourself, it will be better (cost cuts)
3. When are you willing to move?
4. Place moving from and to, any stairs? House, flats? If flats, what floor? If 2nd or 3rd floor, any lift?
So many things to consider.
Thanks a lot"
"The only really price factor with removal companies is if you have valuables that need to be pre-packed in bubble wrap and if you have valuable ornaments that have to go in individually other than that there’s not much price that can really creep up on you."
