What are the most secure night latches?

Are some night latches more secure than others? If so, what should I look for? It's for the door of my flat. There's a better lock on the communal door but I haven't got permission to add another lock to my door yet. So, I’m wondering if I can get a better night latch?

"Yes you can get and fit a better nightlatch, the key to them is looking for a British standard kitemark, the higher the star rating the better the lock. After that you would need to think about the frame as that would then become the weakest link so you would probably want to look into London bars as they strengthen the frame itself, they are simple but affective"

"All depends what type your after. The new fire regs ask for a roller bolt Yale nightlatch to be fitted. Aarron do the best chrome affect I have come across so far. Also very sturdy and better lock all-round to the standard night latch"

"The best tyre of the night latch would be an anti-slip night latch."

"Look for a nightlatch that is British Standard. Non British standard nightlatches can be opened without even picking the lock."

"You should look for a nightlatch that has the BS3621 Insurance Approved kitemark on them.
ERA, Yale and Ingersoll are the best ones on the market.
You should also think about a London Bar as thisnwill enforce your door frame to enforce the nightlatch and deadlock.
You will also find your Insurqnce Company will give you a discount for having these locks on."

"Hi there

What you'd need is a auto locking Nightlatch. Which is also rated to BS3621"

"British standard nightlatch would be the best solution. Auto deadlocks when you close the door"

"Standard nightlatches are easily to gain access to as only secured via a latch, you can get a British standard one that has a snib that once hits the frame when the door is closed the latch becomes solid so it cannot be slipped they are very secure."
