uPVC windows for conservation area house

We're looking for uPVC windows that are suitable for use in a conservation area. Do we need a specialist supplier or can we put any in as long as the style is in keeping?

"You need more than anything permission from local council submit what you want and they will sort of decide if its in line with rest of windows in area I knew of area were they wouldn't allow upvc but you could have hard wood with dgus in AND if I'm right they had to be exactly same specs as original type"

"Usually in Conservation Areas you cant have pvc unless Authorities allows you to…
At back of the property they normally let you put them in if it’s not visible to roads etc"
