Toilet cistern coming away from the wall

The cistern on our wall hung toilet has started to pull away from the wall slightly. You can see a small gap forming. Is this urgent and who fixes it?

Hi, this can happen if the frame fixings or concealed cistern support has become loose. I’d recommend getting it checked sooner rather than later, especially if the gap is increasing or the toilet moves when used. A plumber/bathroom fitter can normally inspect and secure it. Happy to help if needed."

"Check to see if it is dangerous- could it fall on someone? Is there any water leaks coming out of it? If neither of these are the case then just leave it for now. You can call a plumber eventually when you have the money. He or she will make sure that it is firmly fixed the wall or replace the toilet if necessary."

"I suggest you get a plumber or a multitrade person who knows about toilets cisterns because there is a cold feed pipe feeding the cistern pipes might come away and start water leaks"

"I would get a local plumber or handy man in to come have a look. Usually a simple fix depending on the fixings in the wall. The urgency is dependent how loose the cistern is to the rest of the toilet and if it’s far away from the wall with no support."

"Hi,

Yes I would recommend someone taking a look as it could snap the fixings or the ceramic if not seated properly. A plumber like myself could undertake this task for you."

"If you don't have any leaks, lay under the toilet and tighten two bolts securely. They may just got loosen. No need plumber and throwing money into toilet.."

"It's not an urgent job to do and it can be done by the handyman or a plumber. I hope this helps

"If the cistern comes off completely, there is a risk of a water leak and flooding your property.
It’s best to use a builder or plumber with knowledge of the regulations."
