Smart thermostat installation

Can I install a smart thermostat by myself or must a professional do this?

"Most of them just replace the existing programmer, however there can be other minor electrical bits to do. So it is down to the confidence of the person installing it.

If you get an electrician to do it, they will probably charge between 1-2 hours to carry out the install and set the unit up on your home WiFi."

"If the new thermostat fits the wall plate of the old time clock you could swap yourself. But if you don’t have the confidence to isolate, remove old time clock then no, I’d advise a electrician to come fit. Shouldn’t take long to do either."

"Hi, Thermostats are specific electrical devices that can only work if they are compatible for the desired application and system. Only a competent professional tradesperson like an electrician is able to use it and connect it correctly.

Hope this helps."
