Signs of dry rot

I've been told that our floorboards have dry rot, although I'm not convinced. What are the signs of dry rot?

"To be fair it wouldn't just be the floorboards that have dry rot, and is probably old age and woodworm but pics would help"

"There is a strong musty smell, the wood will have a fungus grows on the face and through it and the timber will disintegrate at touch"

"The basic sins of dry rot are as follows,
A musty smell, The appearance of cobweb like mycelium, deep cracks in the wood and a darkening.
I would be tempted to lift a board or two and compare the appearance to a few google pictures just type in signs of dry rot.

* Wooden surfaces and structures shrink and become Loose ( You might notice Gaps Were would junctures were previously seamless).
* A musty , earthly, fungus like odour"

You’d need to lift up the carpet take board or two out first to see what’s going on underneath or from the outside wall, all can be sorted"
