Should beading match floor or skirting?

Part of me thinks matching the floor makes it disappear a bit, but I’m worried it might look dated or odd once everything’s settled in? Does matching beading to the floor look better long term?

"If you do matching with skirting boards should be better. Because the fitter will trim the frames and put the flooring underneath of it and the frames are same color of skirting boards"

"Hi,

From what I've seen on jobs, matching the beading to the floor usually looks better in the end, because it blends in and the edges look cleaner. Once everything is finished and furniture is in place, it normally gives a more natural look.

Matching the beading to the skirting can work too, but the beading becomes more visible around the room.
Most of the time I recommend matching the floor, as it tends to look more modern and tidy long term."

"Good morning. I would have it running under skirting board's. If not I would match to the wood.but you can also match to the skirting it all depends on the client's choice. Many thanks."

"I would say this is personal preference. Personally I always recommend removing skirting where possible and refit them on top gives best finish. If this is not possible then beading does the job"

"I would say this is a personal preference . Matching beading will make your floor area look slightly bigger if fitted directly to wall looks better , or retro fitted to skirting .
White beading also looks good , because it’s just matching it to the same colour as skirting so there is no difference in the look.
Matching skirting , beading and floor does look nice . Again personal preference and budget.
Overall it’s a customers choice, but I would go for white beading to match the skirting."

"Match to the skirting....if your skirting is white paint your beading..... can come in redwood just paint a couple of coats b4 fitting then you just fill the pin holes...same goes for oak etc..."

"In most cases, matching the beading to the skirting gives a cleaner and more consistent finish.

Matching it to the floor can help it blend in, but it can sometimes look dated over time. Keeping it the same colour as the skirting usually works better long term and ties the room together."
