Second-hand aerial

Do you think it’s okay to buy an aerial second-hand? Or would issues with quality and the longevity of the equipment make it not worthwhile? I guess my query is more so, whether it’s overall worthwhile, when weighing up any saved money vs. the risks of getting a lower quality aerial? What do you think? Thanks.

"No absolutely not always install the correct aerial for your location. This is determined by your location as all aerials are designed to uniquely receive signals from a specific transmitter to avoid cross modulation of signals."

"Hi Patrick,

I would always recommend a new aerial simply for the fact you don't know how old it is and what state its in.

To give you an idea of cost.

I would charge £75 to install a customers own aerial on site vs £90 to supply and fit a value aerial and you'll get a 12 month warranty.

Give you peace of mind for an extra £15.

"The aerial may not be the correct “group” aerial for your location.
A competent installer will supply the correct type aerial, installed correctly, avaoiding further costs down the line."

"Would be better option to buy a new aerial as the 2nd hand one may not be suitable for what you need"

"Given the cost of a new aerial from EBay or Amazon, is it worth getting a secondhand one"

"Some times it can work out ok if you are lucky enough to buy from a good seller other ones you need to be really careful with"
