Porcelain Tiles

Hi

Have a new extension size 6x3m. I’m being charged £900 for labour and now being asked to
Pay for all materials after agreement. Is this too much?

Am supplying the tiles

"depends on the size of tile and what they could be cutting round tho, so the price could be reasonable average price £40 per m2 that will give you a guideline"

"I guess there's more than just labour. probably paying for prep work and adhesive etc out of that. hard to say without seeing all the details and/or the subfloor."

"If you have agreed with the trades person for labour only you cannot expect him to buy materials for the same price. It is always good of a tradesman sources materials payment to be agreed - either him puts them in the price for the work or tells you it has to be separate. Thats how I work at least."

"Sounds about right 50 £per square metre just for labour plus adhesive grout ect on top of it. I would charge between 40 to 50."

"This is fair price. The labour rates keep rising up due to inflation."

"Unfortunately all orices have risen including labour you are also paying for a skilled worker and not a labourer. Obviously materials need to be paid for I always let my client know just that when giving my qoute as I always include materials in the total cost listing exactly what and how much they are paying for"

"A tiler will usually charge around £18-£30 per hour or around £150-£250 per day. If your walls or floors have already been prepared for the tiling work, then you may be charged according to the size of the area. If so, then you can expect to pay around £40-£50 per square metre"
