Phone apps connecting to aerial antennas
Is it true that certain apps for your phone can help direct your aerial antenna? How does this work? Is it safe for your phone, etc.? Will it cost me anything to download these apps? How exactly can I use it and why should I?

"There are free phone apps on google app store, as verified by google they should be safe.
These apps will give you a bearing for TV transmitters around your location, what they won't do is tell you the strength or quality you could expect to receive from those transmitters.
For instance from my address one app lists lots of transmitters that I know can't be received and misses the one I can actually get reasonable results from.
Freeview has a postcode checker which will with some searching around the site tell you the expected Freeview reception and most likely transmitter to gain the listed channels from.
A combination of info from Freeview and a phone app would tell you which direction to best point the aerial but only a signal test meter would tell you how well this is all working.
