"It could all depend on the tradesperson you are using on whether they have accounts with builders merchants and the size of the job they may ask you to sign a contract, to do stage payments too. Hope this helps"

"I would say once you have agreed a price and signed contracts then once work commences then a 10/15% is plausible"

"We as a company don’t take any deposits but I wouldn’t pay more than 10%"

"The deposit amount typically ranges from 20% to 50% of the total project cost. It's usually paid upfront before work begins to secure the contractor's services and cover initial expenses. The timing can vary but is often requested at the signing of the contract or before the start date agreed upon."

"We would recommend a minimum of 10% or £500 whichever is greater as a deposit. Usually this would be taken at the time of acceptance of the quotation when booking a date in with the contractor."

"Hello,
This depends on the job you need doing and the company you go with. Some companies don't need upfront payments whilst others will if it's a big job that needs doing.

Thank you"
