Overflow dripping after repair

I have just had repair done to water tank in loft as overflow was constantly dripping. The ball valve and some type of pipe were replaced but it is still dripping. Should it have stopped immediately repair was done ?

"You may have a different problem rather than a faulty ballvalve
Possibly if it’s a heating header tank, could mean expansion in tha tank possibly caused by a blockage or sludged system, or if a mains storage tank possibly fault with hot water cylinder as in a split coil in the cylinder"

"If you have had a new ball valve fitted the water level should be below the over flow .so it should not be dripping now"

"Yes the plumber should have reduced the level of the water in the tank when they replaced the ball valve and the overflow pipe so it should have stopped."

"Has the repair been carried out properly. Did they replace parts or just adjust things. Dripping should stop within an hour or so"

"Hi, did they change both the ball valves part 2 in the cold water tank and part 1 in the F&E tank as if one was changed you may need to look at the alternate tank, alternatively it could be an issue further back with water backing up through the expansion pipe.

"The dripping should have stopped but it is probably just a case of adjusting the ball cock level. The tradesman who installed it should be the person to contact for this."

"If you have had the float valve replaced in the tank that was overflowing then the first thing to do is check the new valve has been adjusted properly so that it stops the water below the overflow.

If that's not the problem and the dripping is coming from the overflow on the smaller F&E tank, then you might have a bit of an expensive job on your hands. If the F&E tank is filling with water to overflow and there is nothing wrong with the float then you might have a smalll hole in the primary coil of your hot water cylinder. The water pressure inside the tank (secondary side) is higher than the pressure on the boiler side (Primary side). Any hole in the coil forces secondary water into the heating circuit, causing F&E tank to overflow.
Hope this helps."
