Optimum width for driveway entrance

Question

What's the optimum width a driveway entrance, so you can pull in and out easily? The one to our 1960s bungalow doesn't seem wide enough for a modern car, so I'm considering having it widened but I don't want to lose more garden than necessary.

I’m not sure there is an optimum size, but I would say 3meters should be ok.

Your drive way now wouod be 2.5 to 2.7 average is 3.5 to 4.0

Ideally you would want 4 m width as a minimum entrance width

Hi...it has to be about 3m ...park your car,open doors on both sides ...take measurements from one open door to another ( make sure you have enough leg room around the car)..and that should be the minimum width...

For easy access with your vehicle I would recommend 8 to 10 foot opening to make it easier to access the driveway
