Night latch

Hi! I've been looking into different door latches. Could you explain to me what a night latch is?

"Hello

So a nightlatch ie your standard lock you'll find on most timber doors. Circular cylinder which the key goes into and opens the door. From the inside there will be a handle to open it.

This is different to a deadbolt which usually accompanies a nightlatch as it double locks the door."
