"If your homes insulation has been poorly fitted, or is not suitable for your property, you may encounter problems with damp and mould, leading to possible damage to the external brickwork.

Modern property insulation, double glazing, and draught proofing can result in poor air circulation resulting in trapped moisture and the build-up of condensation. Your walls may feel damp to the touch. There may be signs of black mould and condensation on internal walls, and you may be able to smell mould in the room.

When standard insulation becomes wet, they lose their thermal performance benefit, and you may notice that your home is losing more heat and your bills are increasing in cost. Living in a cold, damp environment can also increase health problems such as: influenza, strokes, and heart disease.

Some people are more sensitive to mould than others, and some groups are especially vulnerable. Babies and children, elderly people, those with existing skin problems, such as eczema, or respiratory problems, such as allergies and asthma, and anyone who is immuno-compromised should all be kept away from damp and mould.

The risk of further damp, condensation, mould, and further issues is almost immediately removed when the cavity wall insulation is extracted, and the property is cleaned and aired."

"Hi, you can use a mould resistant spray and any stain left over can be bleached out by household bleach. A de-humidifier will help prevent mould as will sufficient ventilation."

"Hi, you will need to wear a mask and gloves to avoid spurs in the air when cleaning down mould, some hot water bleach and a cloth then gently wipe the areas affected, then you will need to look at ventilation such as having windows open regularly or installing air vents or an extractor fan. Hope this helps"

"First you need to look for the main factors that cause the appearance of mold.
Basically mold is favored by excessive moisture or poor ventilation or even both.
You can chemically clean the walls and the places where it appeared with an anti-mold solution, but the final solution to the problem comes from removing the factors.
I suggest installing a dehumidifier to keep the humidity and temperature in the room under control.
Maximizing air circulation as much as possible In the room.
And last but not least, after cleaning the walls, using a paint that also contains a built-in anti-mildew.
To remember that mold is a fungus, so a living organism as such not favoring the sources of existence will disappear."
