Low water consumption showers and toilets

What type of showers and toilets should I be looking at for my new bathroom if I want to conserve water? I'm on a meter, so I'm looking for any tips to help lower my water use.

"You didn’t say whether it was an electric or mixer shower, either way, the water consumption is mostly dependent on the user… obviously a shorter shower will use less water. If you have a mixer shower and have access to the isolation valve (near the shower) for the hot n cold, depending on your water pressure, you can shut it a bit to reduce the water flow but the balance between hot n cold has to be right. As for the toilet, most of these modern toilets are dual flush.. I.e. you can do a half flush for #1 and full flush for #2… so as you can see it’s still user dependent…"

"Most cisterns nowadays with a two button push are only three and six litre flush, any less and the trap won't clear. A lot of taps can be fitted with restrictors which will limit the flow to 4.5 litres per minute, saves water but if you want to fill the basin or bath, it takes an age. Vado do produce a monobloc basin mixer which when the lever is centralised and lifted it only supplies cold water (all the rest supply mixed water which will mean the boiler fires up) so not conserving water but saving gas."
