Lettuce crops and pests

I can see tiny bite marks in my lettuce crops that I'm growing in the garden. How can I tell what insects are behind this?

"Not really a question for Pest Control, probably best to approach a gardener. Good Luck"

"Yes you can if you turn the cabbage leaf over you should see insects but as its lettuce will probably be a slug so get some slub pallets put round the bottom in a circle.and this will stop the holes"
