How to take a radiator off the wall

Question

I want to decorate behind one of our radiators but I'm not sure how to remove it without draining the whole system. Is it straightforward to do yourself?

isolate it by turning the thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) to zero and tightening the lockshield valve clockwise. Bleed the radiator to release pressure, then loosen the nuts connecting the valves, keeping a container and towels ready for minor leakage. Watch a video on YouTube

Isolate both valves hopefully they shut off fully then undo the nut joining to the radiator with a tray to catch the water once radiator is empty can lift of might need to top pressure up slightly if it’s a sealed system

Hello yes it can be easy to do if your confinement. Either side of the radiator will be valves you need to close them both, to isolate the radiator from the heating system. You then need to open the air bleed vent and then loosed the nut at the bottom and drain the radiator into a bag/ bucket. There will be a fair bit depending on size and might be dirty so has a few towels to protect the floor. Then fully disconnect it and lift off brackets, flipping inside down to prevent and left of water coming out
