How to fix a window locking mechanism
The locking handle on our bedroom window has stopped latching properly. It moves but doesn't lock. Is this something a window company needs to sort or can I save money and do it myself?

"It could be a number of things. May need a new handle or locking mechanism. Cost of these parts are generally under £50. But there are lots of makes out there. Easy fix but generally you need a window technician to fix."

"Hi and good afternoon. Yes you can do this yourself. Just by simply measuring how long the mechanism is and how deep the backset is.
The backset is where the handle screws to.
So you will need to take it out.
The lengths are usually 400mm to 1000mm
The backset is usually 20mm or 22mm
You may need the keeps in the window to enable the locking mechanism to work.
