How often does granite need sealing?

How often should I have my granite worktops sealed? Can I do this DIY and if so what’s involved?

"Hi there,

It is usually between 18-24 months depending on how much use you give your worktops.
A simple test to see if it's time to protect your granite surface is to place a little puddle of water on the surface; if the water is rapidly absorbed by the stone, it's time to apply granite sealer.

Hope it helps!"
