How much would it cost to rip out an old bathroom and replace like for like?

I have bought all the fittings for a new bathroom and would like the old bath, sink and toilet removed and replaced with the new fittings. How much should this cost?

It would be difficult to provide an accurate quote without first assessing the bathroom, as it's quite common to uncover issues once the existing suite has been removed. That's one of the reasons I'm cautious about purchasing leads on sites like this—the cost of the lead can be high, and without seeing the job or knowing the customer's budget, it's a bit of a gamble.

That said, if it's a straightforward like-for-like replacement, with the existing pipework being reused and no unforeseen problems, I'd expect the labour cost to be in the region of £1,000 to replace the bath, toilet, basin and taps. Removing the old sanitaryware would be an additional £300.

It's also worth bearing in mind that new sanitaryware isn't always the same size as the old units. This can leave exposed areas where tiles or flooring were previously hidden, so the finished result may not look as neat without carrying out additional remedial work.

In situations like that, it can make more sense to undertake a full bathroom renovation, including a complete strip-out and retiling. Depending on the size of the bathroom and the specification of the new suite, I'd expect those projects to start from around £5,000, including labour and materials.

if no pipe work required and no tiling etc… Just a perfect swap of old to new, anything between £800-1500 depending on your location.

If anything is needed, eg piping rerouted, taps fitting, subfloor work, tiling… this will increase the costs

Lets break your request down labour only:

Day 1 -  remove old bathroom fittings, make the plumbing and electrics safe and remove all waste - cost £280

Day 2 - make good all walls, ceiling then plaster - cost £300 including parts

Day 3 - all plumbing and electric install - cost £300 including parts

Day 4/5  fit bathroom suite, tiling or panels - cost £600 labour only (bathroom suite and tiles not included )

This is for an average size bathroom

It depends on the size and the location, outside of London is lower price and anywhere in London or around the M25 the cos is more.
