How much does a bathroom sink replacement cost?

Our sink has a crack in it and the pedestal wobbles so it's time for a new one. What do plumbers charge to swap it like for like and should I buy the sink myself first or let them supply it?

up to you if you want to supply parts but make sure all parts are there but if your not bothered on design and looks then let the plumber pick basin range from 50 to 100 pounds plus labour charge so all in i would say 140 can go up to 180 for standard sinks i have seen copper designer sinks for 2k so totally dependent on personal choice

Totally upto you. But this info might sway your decision.

If you buy the products yourself, you might save a few quid as the tradesmen won't charge you a mark up on the kit, or for their time to collect  it from the merchants.

However, it's quite likely that you may miss a item, or purchase an item that doesn't fit correctly, and may then be charged for the plumber to correct thisz, and the extra time

Usual trade price can range from £60-£90ph for labour, plus the cost of parts.

For a straightforward like-for-like basin and pedestal swap, I'd usually charge somewhere between £120–£220 labour, depending on how easy the job is and whether the existing pipework lines up. If it's an older house and I end up having to alter the waste, taps, or pipework, it can creep up to around £250–£350.

Personally, I'd rather supply the sink if the customer isn't set on a particular style because I know it'll come from a decent supplier, I can check all the dimensions beforehand, and if anything turns up damaged or faulty, I deal with it. It also means I can make sure the pedestal and basin actually fit together properly.

That said, if you've found a sink you love, I'm more than happy to fit one you've bought yourself. I'd just ask you to make sure it comes with everything needed (or let me know exactly what you've ordered), as sometimes budget sets don't include the fixings or waste.

If it's literally a like-for-like swap with no surprises, it's normally only a couple of hours' work.

All depends on the basin but can range from 140-220, buying the sink yourself could save you some money but could also be costly if you get some wrong parts.

Personally I’d let the plumber supply and fit but that’s just me, everyone is different.
