How can I stop birds nesting in my soffits?

I don’t want to do anything I’m not allowed to, but at the same time I don’t want nests appearing every year, so I’m trying to understand what’s okay and what isn’t

"Hi, you can proof before thy start nesting, there is several ways it can be proofed.
If feral pigeons then they are covered under the general licence and can be controlled all year round under public health act."

"Hi Julie

There are legislations that must be adhered to but that's why we have many different ways to control bird pests.

In pest control we do works called "proofing". That is stopping pests from gaining access in to living areas.
Our company, does this work by working from both inside and outside the property with a guarantee.

We seal up gaps in the buildings structure that ensure birds cannot continue to have access to internal areas - by using hard wearing preparations like concrete , metal mesh, timber etc

Hope this answer helps."

"The best approach is proofing the entry points, not dealing with the birds after the fact:

Install soffit vent mesh / eaves guards
Blocks access while still allowing airflow
Seal gaps and holes
Birds often get in through small openings in soffits or fascia boards
Use bird combs or blockers at roof edges
Prevents birds getting under tiles and into the soffit space
Repair damaged soffits
Weak or rotting areas are easy entry points

⚠️ What to avoid
Don’t use harmful methods (traps, poisons, etc.)"
