Handleset lock

What is a Handleset lock? What are its advantages?

"A type of lockset with an integrated fixed vertical pull handle in the lower portion, usually, and often a thumb-activated latch. Usually secured with a deadbolt above.

They're uncommon on UPVC doors, but more commonly fitted to wooden doors. They are fairly common on higher-end houses in the USA.

They look nice/dignified, and offer extra grip to pull open a heavy wooden door. There are no specific advantages otherwise.

They are not particularly more or less secure than other types of lockset, although security will heavily depend on proper installation of the deadbolt as well as the correct installation of the deadbolt strike plate into the door frame. A truly well-made multi-point latch may offer more points to secure a door, although "Euro" cylinder locks have their own specific common vulnerabilities."
