Getting ready for new carpets

Is there any prep I should do before having new carpets fitted? Do I need to move the furniture? Or should a good fitter do everything for me?

"If you haven't paid for the uplift of the carpets and underlay that should be the first thing you should do.
It will make the fitters life easier if you move the furniture . It's not really a fitters job to move it and they wouldn't take any responsibility for anything that might get broken. I would say a sofa or something like that is acceptable."

"When having your quote prepared any company would normally ask if you are planning to have the room clear on their arrival or are wanting them to move furniture. If they are moving furniture this would be noted on the quote with a charge"

"The prepare before carpeting depends on the shape of your floor. If it is not in a good shape you have to use self-levelling product before the underlay. About the furniture I think it wood be better if you could remove it as it's shiper than pay to the carpenter do that. It generally needs two people to the furnitures"

"it will all depend if he has charged you to do any prep e.g ripping old stuff out etc which should be discussed well before installing as for moving furniture if you are able to empty bedroom furniture into the bigger room making it clear for them to do other rooms to then move they will usually help when it comes time to do the big room"
