Dealing with reoccurring cockroach problems

We have a flat above a takeaway and have had several problems over the years with cockroaches. Although they're dealt with the problem returns. Is there a way of stopping them from entering or returning to our flat?

"Hi Jackie, the most important thing is to find out where they could enter the flat, and all the holes must be covered so that they no longer have access to the flat, and the last step is to put poison and traps for cockroaches!"

"Seal any cracks or crevices around the flat. Especially around the boiler. No food left out and make sure that the takeaway shop has on going support from a pest control company"

"The simple answer to that is no. If the problem is recurring because the property beneath is not dealing with it correctly then your only option is to contact environmental health at the local council. They will take enforcement action against them which is normally accompanied by a court appearance and a huge fine"

"Hello,

If you use spraying treatment, they will keep returning; we recommend using gel treatment, which is the method we are using which is killing the whole colony, not just the ones that are inside the property. This is the only way to ensure you have longer results."

"The problem is due to the hygeine of the takeaway. All food outlets have to have a pest management system in place by law. If they dont have a pest control company dealing with the problem then the EHO need to be made aware asap. A pest control company like us can carry out a 2-3 stage treatment, putting monitor stations down to putting a special treatment down to kill them off. Are they getting access via a certain room, wall, floor in the flat? This is where you need to be spending time finding their entrance point"

"Good morning Jackie.

I am able to eradicate cockroaches from a property which usually requires three visits over 3 three weeks.
Kind regards.
Chris."

"Proofing against insects is always hard within a building. It may be better to get a pest controller in who is competent enough to deal with and put measures in place to stop an infestation at source. Only by working together with your neighbours can this be fully resolved long term."
