How can I tell whether it's moths or beetles eating my carpet?

You can tell by identifying the larvae of the insect or by identifying the insect itself. It is the larvae that do the damage. I.e. Do you see carpet moths hopping about the carpet or do you see the very obvious shape of the varied carpet beetle. Alternatively varied carpet beetle larva move along quite fast and have long hairs on their bodies, whereas carpet moth larva are more evasive and difficult to find.

You will usually find its the grubs or beetles and you will be able to see them

Hallo You can always tell by there droppings but gets some moth balls and some Beetle killer then you will make sure there all gone
