Can you put a cat flap in a glass door?

We've got a uPVC back door with a double glazed panel and want to add a cat flap. Can a cat flap be fitted into the glass itself or does it have to go in a door frame?

"HI, you can fit a pet flap in to a double glazed unit no problem at all. You will need a new glass unit made with the hole cut in, then it's a case of fitting the pet flap."

"The best solution would be have the glass sealed unit removed and have a pvc insulated panel fitted with a pet door"

"Because existing toughened glass shatters if cut, a glazier must replace your current glass with a brand-new double-glazed unit featuring a factory-cut, pre-sealed hole. Your original glass can be saved and reinstalled if you ever move house or remove the cat flap.If your uPVC door has a solid plastic panel at the bottom instead of glass, a cat flap can be cut and installed directly into it on-site for a much lower cost."
