Can I fit a sliding window by myself?

Is it feasible for an average DIYer to install a sliding window or should I really leave this to a professional?

"It may seem a simple task on the outside however there are a lot of things to consider while designing and installing even a simple window and as you are not aware of the issues that may arise you will find this very difficult to fit and work correctly.
I would not advise this for DIY unless you are willing to spend again to correct your mistakes should they arise, this could cost you double anyway and you would have saved nothing and waited time also."

"Always leave this kind of work to a professional. At least a professional is insured and experienced, it's worth spending a bit for a quality job."

"You could if you have fit windows before you need to get them perfectly level and square for the sliders to work"

"It's easy enough with the right tools. Just need to be a bit careful with the glass side of things but if it's just the one you maybe better off with a glazier to install the window if your not feeling comfortable with it."

"Depending on how complex is the the sliding window.

Few things to consider.

- Robust substructure
- Window must be installed straight and level.
- Suitable fixings
- Suitable insulation around the window frame (Low modulus silicone, colour as desired."
