Can I build a stone wall on a slope DIY?

Is building a stone wall feasible for a DIY enthusiast or should this always be left to a professional?

"Yes it is possible, but you really would need a stepped foundation for the stone wall"

"Yes but it's always better to step it in to the land building level courses or random but still level if the slope isent that steep it's not to bad you can build with the contour of the land but any steeper you need to dig in level and go up in steps"
