Broken follower in kitchen door

I have an internal door which is shut and when took the door handles off discovered the follower is shattered, how can I get the door open to take out the barrel

"Use a scraper something thin and push it behind the latch to open the door"

"awkward job but try a screwdriver at the top of the follower hole and try turning it it may just turn enough to open the door"

"Hi

Cut up a milk bottle into a photo shape/size, gently bend one corner to the direction of the lock. Slipping that sheet into the gap aiming for the latch, if the door has shut towards you you need to push back at the latch (wiggle the door whilst working it in). If the door closed away from you then you need to look back at the latch or if you can see the latch use a Stanley blade to work the latch back pulling on the door to hold the latch in place whilst you reposition the blade.
