Boiler pressure - Baxi EcoBlue

the pressure of boiler looks unstable

After i re-pressurize to 1.5 bar, using tap is ok without problem. but when turn on the heating, the pressure rise over 2 and the error code showing water pressure high

After i did the bleeding and re-pressurize to 1.3 bar, the heating is ok and pressure not over 2. But after the heating off, the pressure came down to 1 and sometime even lower than 1 need to top up again

what will the problem with it and how to fix it

"Hi, your expansion vessel inside the boiler is flat or ruptured, this is checked on a service. Getting your boiler service regularly should avoid having these issues."

"Hi, this is a fault with your expansion vessel and pressure relief valve. The expansion vessel is the cause of the pressure rising when the heating is on, the boiler then removes the excess pressure through the pressure relief valve - which will cause your pressure to drop below 1.5bar once the heating is off. Both components need to be checked, and potentially replaced. Feel free to reach out for further assistance. Thanks"

"It sounds like you're expansion vessel to me which is quite an easy fix. You might need to change the pressure relief valve as well"

It seems you're experiencing fluctuations in your boiler's pressure, which is indeed a concern that warrants attention. Your boiler's pressure should ideally remain stable, typically between 1 and 1.5 bar. The issues you're describing suggest a few potential problems. Let's break them down:

Expansion Vessel Issue: One common cause of pressure fluctuations is a problem with the expansion vessel. The expansion vessel compensates for the increase in water volume as it heats up. If it's not functioning correctly (due to a loss of pressure or a malfunction), it can't accommodate the expanded water, leading to increased system pressure when the heating is on.
Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) Issue: The PRV is designed to release pressure if it gets too high, preventing damage to the boiler and the heating system. If the PRV is faulty, it might not be regulating pressure as it should, leading to fluctuations.
Leaks: A less obvious cause could be a small leak in the system. Leaks can cause pressure to drop, and they're not always immediately visible. Check for damp spots or leaks around the boiler and along the pipework.
Boiler Overfill: If the boiler was overfilled when you re-pressurized it, this can also cause pressure problems. The system needs a certain amount of air to function correctly, and too much water can lead to high pressure.
How to Address These Issues:

Check the Expansion Vessel: This might require a professional, as it involves checking and possibly recharging the air pressure in the expansion vessel.
Inspect the PRV: Look for any signs of water discharge from the PRV's outlet pipe. If it's leaking or seems faulty, it will need to be replaced.
Search for Leaks: Examine your boiler and the surrounding pipework for any signs of leaks. Even a small, slow leak can affect the pressure.
Consult a Professional: Given the complexity of boiler systems and the potential risks involved, it's advisable to get a qualified heating engineer to inspect your boiler. They can accurately diagnose the problem and carry out any necessary repairs.
Regular Maintenance: Regular servicing of your boiler by a qualified professional can prevent many of these issues from occurring in the first place."

"The pressure rises when heating on means you have an issue with the expension vessel or pressure switch. As you described the pressure will remain stable when calling hot water is normal."

"It sounds like your boiler's pressure issue could be due to a faulty pressure relief valve or expansion vessel. The fluctuating pressure when the heating is on and the drop in pressure when it's off indicate a potential problem with these components. It's advisable to have a professional plumber or technician check and possibly replace the pressure relief valve or assess the expansion vessel for any faults."

"Leave the boiler off over night in the morning check the boiler pressure if it is right down you could have a leaking PRV pressure release valve you will need to get an Engineer to repair for you

"Hi. There will be an issue within the boiler. The expansion vessel will require a repair. The vessel is not allowing any expansion meaning that when the water is heated it gets too much pressure that releases as safety and has now been stuck continually passing. Can be fixed but will require a gas safe engineer to open the boiler. Thanks"
