Are steel windows more expensive than aluminium?

I love the look of steel framed windows for our extension but the architect says aluminium can look very similar for less. How big is the price gap really?

"No, aluminium windows are more expensive, but they are also stronger, more durable and longer-lasting. So, aluminium would be my first choice.

Considering the weather conditions in the UK, I believe aluminium windows are a more sensible option. They are more resistant to the elements and should last for many years.

Thank you."

"This depends on what type of window and size and the type of glass."
