Are amplified loop aerials any good?

Are amplified loop indoor aerials any good? I need to improve the Freeview signal in my bedroom and this seems like a cheap and easy option. But do they actually work?

"Hi indoor aerials can be ok to use as long as the signal strength are good. I would recommend an outside aerial to be on the safe side. A local aerial company can do a signal test but you would be charged a call out

"Hi Harry, the simple answer is no, they are a wideban Aerial and subject to interference, to amplify any signal also amplifys the interference as well.
You can't beat a hard wire aerial point, with the right group of aerial for your area or transmitter."

"No I would all ways advise a wideband aerial rather than a loop aerial"

"An amplified loop indoor aerial can be a cheap and easy option for improving Freeview signal in your bedroom, but its effectiveness will depend on several factors. It's important to choose a good quality aerial and test it in your home before making a purchase."

"Short answer no.

They are a cheap option which pretty much means you get a cheap service. Very difficult to get all the channels you require, difficult to align as well. Depending on the Aerial cabling layout an Amplifier in the loft or where the aerial connections cables are, is the best option or getting someone to diagnose your system to see where improvements can be done.

An amplifier can cost £20 - £50 depending on how many connections you have.

Happy to assist in any way we can."
