What is involved in mulching a garden and should I do so to my garden? When might it not be a suitable approach?

Mulching is adding a layer of organic material, to the soil surface, I.e around Roses. called Mulch.

Which will retain moisture and deliver it slowly to the plant, add fertility,  keep weed growth down and look nice.

It can harbour pests, if this happens, reduce mulch and don't water unless you are sure it is dry by nightfall as the vine weevil for example are nocturnal.

Much is a layer of organic material such as bark or tree and garden waste munched up which protects and adds an extra layer to the top of your soil eg a bit.like.composite which slowly reduces nutrients and goodness to the soil and roots underneath
