What height should a bath be?

The floor’s being redone at the same time and I’m not sure how much flexibility there is before it starts causing problems with plumbing or panels. With all the building regs these days, wondering if that also comes into play?

"Standard bath height in the UK typically ranges from 510mm to 550mm, with 550mm being the most common for standard straight, single-ended, and freestanding tubs. Total installation height often depends on plumbing, with some reaching up to 600mm or more, while lower-level, accessible baths may be 360mm–430mm."

"In the UK, there is no strict legal "regulation" for the exact height of a bath; however, the standard, comfortable height for a bath in the UK is generally between 510mm and 550mm"

"Standard bath height is 500 to 600 mm from floor to top edge.

Most common installed height is around 550 mm including feet and final floor finish.

You can adjust slightly if you are redoing the floor, but keep these in mind:

Plumbing waste needs proper fall, usually 10 to 20 mm per metre.
Raising the bath too much can affect panel fit and trap access.
Lowering it too much can restrict waste clearance.

Building regs do not set a fixed bath height. They focus on safe access and proper drainage.

If you stay within 500 to 600 mm finished height, you will not have issues."

"This is normally determined by the bath panel as you can stand or lots of different types of baths in height and width

If you measure the height of the bath panel, the initial indicate what the height of the bus should be. We quite often raise the bath by 100 mm as this gives you play and you can stick a piece of wood under the bath panel. It's easier to install and easier for access."
