Safety check involving earthing

Where is the earth rod? Is it obvious in a detached bungalow with medium sized gardens

"Hi Nicola
The Earth Rod is usually located at the front of the property. Not far from where the fuse board amd main Fuse is located.
What you will see on the older properties, is a rod coming out of the ground around 3 -4 inches.
On the rod you will see a brass clamp with a wire attached to it. The cable is green / Yellow. The size of the cable varies but if it was updated then there will be a 16mm cable attached.
I hope that this helps with your question.

Thanks

Stu"

"It could anywhere external to the house close to the cutout by or around the entrance, I have seen them close to the fuse board under the floor boards driven into the foundations if there is a green/yellow earth wire fitted in the fuse board or on the MET you can follow it to the earth rod.
Hope that helps."

"Sometimes, the top of the rod is housed inside a small plastic or concrete inspection pit set into the ground. Of course the house may not have an earth rod, or may not need one."

"Hi Nicole it will usually have a cover over it not far from the fuseboard/consumer unit on the outside of the property like a small manhole cover"
