Leaks around door frame and ceiling

Noticed a leak through my lounge door frame. Above on the ceiling is water stain. Where could this be coming from? My lounge door is on the inside and not close to the front door. I have a cylinder above on the first floor and bathroom.

"Hi,

My first thought would be to go and check all of the points in the bathroom it could potentially be coming from. Upstairs radiator valves would be next... But I would be contacting someone to come and help identify the issue.

Thanks"

"A leak showing around an internal door frame and the ceiling above usually means water is finding its way down from the floor above and following the path of least resistance (down timber studs, plasterboard edges, or along the door frame). Since you have both a hot water cylinder and a bathroom above, here are the most likely sources:

Possible Causes From the bathroom above: Leaking shower tray, bath, or seals – water can seep through failed grout or silicone and track across the floor before dripping down into the ceiling below. Toilet waste pipe or cistern leak – slow leaks can run unnoticed and eventually appear in the room below."

"Hiya,
If you’re seeing water around the lounge door frame and a stain on the ceiling above, it’s likely coming from something upstairs. Since you’ve got a hot water cylinder and bathroom directly above, the usual suspects would be:

A leak from pipework to or from the cylinder,

An overflow/pressure relief pipe dripping,

A leak from bath/shower seals or waste pipes,

Or even a radiator pipe in that area.

Water can travel along joists before showing itself, so the damp patch might not be exactly under the problem. Best thing is to check around the cylinder and bathroom for any drips or wet patches, and if you can’t spot it easily, get a plumber in before it causes more damage."

"This will be the pipe work leaving and the water flowing to the lowest point it can I recommend sorting this asap as the damage and cost can be through the roof if left and the Celing falls threw"

"Think you answered your own question water will travel but generally if you see damp patches there is a leak above the damp patch , get a plumber to investigate for you"

"Leak likely from bathroom or hot water cylinder above. Check pipes, fittings, and cylinder for drips. Call a plumber if unsure."

"Ok put paper round the bottom of the cylinder if that doesn't work you will need to call a plumber/heating engineer"
