"Hi your central heating water goes round your heating system and it pick up partial from your radiator then it turns in to black sludge and then it cuts down your energy efficiency that’s why you need it flushed every 3 years hope this answer your question"

"If you have poor curculation to the radiators, the radiator water is very black, a heating engineer has shown you the inside of a pump, zone valve, heat exchanger, radiator or other component and it's very black then you likely would benefit from a powerflush, a magnacleanse flush or a mains flush.

Sometimes a magnet will be attracted to copper pipes in the airing cupboard because they are lined with a few millimetres of iron(magnetite sludge). Copper is not magnetic so if magnets are attracted to it then there's iron inside it. Another suggestion is a water sample can be taken from the system and posted off to Fernox or Sentinel who will give a report on it.

All the best."

"You should of been provided a heating water sample and examination done to prove corrosion within a system and PH levels tested. A TDS (Total dissolved solids) test should of also been done. If this is significant enough that your radiators have cold spots then this needs to be done asap otherwise it’s a waiting game when your boiler will pack up, especially if a modern condensing boiler due to the water channels within it being much smaller. Once the flush is done the above tests to to be redone to prove it’s been effective. I hope that helps!"

"A power flush is only necessary if your heating system has sludge in it that can’t be removed by standard flushing."
