How to stop Silver Fish

Question

Recently moved in to a new house. The property is approx 4 years old and we have found Silver Fish! How do I get rid of them ? We have done everything the we found on line and bought some powder and spray but we sill have them ? 
I know that they cant hurt you but they're freaking the wife out !

Hi there.
Silverfish only appear when there is a damp issue which is usually in the kitchen or bathroom. The source of the issue must be dealt with otherwise they will outbreed your extermination attempts. Check under kitchen units and the bath or shower room for slow leaks. Get the leak or damp issue sorted then kill off the rest with a residual spray. If it's a bad leak you may have to get a dehumidifier in to dry the floor out. Hope this helps.

In my experience as a lot of products sold online etc are not strong enough or good enough for the purpose. As a pest controller we use products that are solely for professional use only hence why we have licences and access to purchase. There's a number of products I've used in powder form that are effective and need to be applied to areas where the silver fish congregate .

You can buy boric acid on Internet, mix with water and spray well, it's pretty much harmless to humans and pets unless ingested in large amounts in crystal form.
Also get the moisture content tested in the plaster, skirting boards and floor joists if not a solid floor. If the damp is present the problem will re occur, but the boric acid is a quick fix to eliminate the majority of insect pests.
