"The higher the number of levers generally the more secure it is , also you might want to check home insurance as it does stipulate in certain cases that your locks has to meet British standards and a certain no. Of levers , levers go from 2 all the way up to 7. 7 usually being on gun cabinets or home safes (5 level is usually adequate )"

"Mortice Lever Locks, mainly with the number of levers that they have. In simple, the more levers the lock has, the more secure it is. It is harder for a key to open a door with 5 levers than it is for a door with 1 lever. Generally the thickness of the door can have an impact on how many levers you can use with a Mortice Lever lock. The number of levers can be anything from 1 to 5."

"Can have upto 5 levers. Although you have what are called detainer locks which contain more.

5 levers are usually insurance-covered and kitemarked to British standard requirements.

Its a lot harder to manipulate than a lower lever lock"

"Usually 3 or 5. Insurance companies require a 5 lever mortise lock where entry can be gained to a dwelling . More levers harder to pick."

"There are 4 types of lever mortice locks.
2 Levers
3 Levers
5 Levers
5 Levers BS3621.
The first 2 are for internal doors. The last 2 are for extranal doors with the BS3621 being an Insurance Approved lock which is the best mortice.
Having more levers gives you more security and sequences on the key."
