Fix broken bedroom door handle, any ideas?

Bedroom door handle wont open, hinge is other side of the door, can't unscrew handle, and door frame covers an inch of the door by the handle on my side of the door so haven't been able to get at the latch either. Any ideas what to do?

"Slide a piece of thin plastic, Mica paper is what I use, insert somewhere above the latch and slide through door gap so plastic is through the gap and you still have enough on your side to grip it, then slide down until plastic stops on top of latch, gentle draw plastic shim to you whilst applying gentle down pressure, once shim is free to go down stop pulling towards you and lower shim so that latch is somewhere near central to your shim, then push shim forward whilst jiggling door forwards and backwards. Should open unless latch has been morticed very deeply and plastic can't get behind it. If that doesn't work then you will probably have to destroy the handle set to get access to the door or lock.. Or get a locksmith 🙂"

"well if you know were about the latch is located, normally it will be in the center line of the handle if you cut open a plastic coke bottle an slip it in between the door frame were the lock is it will push the latch back and will open"

"Cut out a section of door frame adjacent to lock/ latch to give access to lock. Once you get the door open scarf/ cut a piece of timber to be fitted to the frame where the cut out is and make good."

"Maybe you will have to call a locksmith out to open your door."

"Hi, you can drill a small hole, level with the handle, through the door frame, about 20-25mm towards the architrave. This will give you access to the latch so you can use a thin flat-ended screwdriver to ease the latch and open the door."
