Do I need to retreat jet washed sandstone steps

I have stone steps up to my front door (it’s a Victorian terrace). They were jet washed over the summer. Since then I have noticed a leak in my cellar, underneath where the steps are. Do I need to “seal” the steps in any way to try and stop this. I think they are either limestone or sandstone - either way they look porous, with lots of little holes in them.

"Repoint the slabs. If this doesn't solve the issue, I'd suggest getting a builder to help locate the issue."

"Problem would most likely be joints not tiles or slabs"

"It sound like the jet wash was to harsh and sting for the joints.I would recommend removing all the old joints and repointing them in compacting it in with a finger trowel to make sure all is full then joint to finish. Then paint over some sealer if you wish for extra protection."

"in my opinion, everything will be temporary, it's better to remove the step, put a membrane and make a new one with the same tiles, maybe with others, but there must be a membrane below"

"More than likely you have washed out most of the Sandstone Joints especially as you Jet-washed your steps…You basically need to re-point all joints and when gone off re-seal with a clear sealer…"
