How Much Does a Handyman Cost?
On average, you’ll pay a handyman between £140 to £280 per day or £20 to £60 per hour. This cost can differ for a variety of reasons that we’re going to discuss here so that you can budget better.
The size and type of job will dictate how much you’ll pay overall. For example, hanging a curtain rail will cost less than installing a carport. If the job is going to take a while to complete, it’ll more than likely cost more.
Your location will also play a part in the overall cost – if you live in the North, it’s typically cheaper to hire a handyman than in the South.
Another factor affecting the price is whether you hire a handyman company or a sole trader. Larger companies may charge more than an individual handyman.

When hiring a handyman, there are a few things worth checking so you feel confident you’ve found a competent and trusted contractor. You don’t need any qualifications to become an odd job man or a man with a van, so here are some things you can check for:
1. Make sure they have public liability insurance. This will protect you if any damage to your property or persons occurs.
2. Accreditation – There are a few accreditation bodies that handymen can be a part of, such as the Association of Certified Handyman Professions (AHCP).
3. A completed apprenticeship where they’ve learnt on-the-job experience.
4. Courses in property maintenance or multi-skills.
