How Much Does a Floor Fitter Cost?
How much you pay a flooring specialist will rely on certain factors. For example, where you are in the country may affect the overall cost of a floor layer. If you’re located in the South, you’ll typically pay more than someone living in the North. It also depends on the size of the floor and the type of materials being used.
Another factor is who you hire. What we mean by that is that if you hire a large flooring company, you’ll usually pay more than a sole contractor.
But on average, you’ll pay a flooring specialist between £150 to £250 for a day or £20 to £40 per hour.

When hiring a floor fitter, you want to find a trustworthy and competent contractor, but how can you ensure they’re reliable? There are a few things you can look out for.
First up are the qualifications - check whether they have any diplomas or NVQs in floor covering. However, many flooring specialists don’t have qualifications and train through an apprenticeship instead. This gives them on-the-job training and experience.
Being a member of a flooring accreditation is another great bonus, such as the National Institute of Carpet and Floorlayers (NICF).

A carpet is a great option for uneven flooring due to its flexibility and stretchability. However, if you need something in a ‘wet’ room, such as a kitchen or bathroom, laminate is a good option, too.
